–Nicholas Wolterstorff, Lament for a Son
Let me tell you a story. I’ll make it quick so I can get back to fantasy football.
Vincent was our son. He was astonishingly cute and we loved him accordingly. Then he got cancer. Then he died. Then we cried, buried him, and cried some more. Then we started missing him incessantly.
Then my wife and I started writing introspective, blubbery blog posts about him. It didn’t do much to ease the pain, but a few kind people started reading them anyway. Then the topic got really old so I ran out of things to say (until next time).
True story.
We still miss you, Vin.

To you. Our family. We understand. Our thoughts often turn to Vin playing
In heaven with Leilani watching over him and smiling. He’s the perfectly healthy gorgeous little boy, she’s his teenage Aunty with a little more “heaven time” under her belt. We know she is intuitive enough to realize how awfully they are both missed, yet her never ending unselfish nature keeps her smiling and spending time playing with Vincent everyday =)
Their love must be so perfect…
Again, we love you…

I know I’ve said this before, but I am so sorry for your loss. You’re right – what an astonishingly cute little guy. I couldn’t help feeling, as I read your blog, that there’s so much more going on than your quick story. As you approach the one year anniversary, I just wanted to let you know that I am lifting you up in prayer.

We miss him too Dan, very much. -Poppy
Everyday is a day closer to when I can see him again. Until then though we’ll keep missing him, thinking about him, talking about him, and wishing he was here. -Grammy

Our little Vinny came, loved us, blessed us, then left all too quickly. He was a small guy who left a big hole in our hearts. One day he stole away almost when we weren’t looking. I’m glad Ron got to heaven first so Vin would know someone there. I wouldn’t want him to be lonely.
